Teamwork is everything! – the Spies Hecker 2020 calendar

Working together for fantastic finishes: Team Work makes the Dream Work is the new Spies Hecker calendar for 2020.

To make something special out of a good idea requires motivated employees and partners who work together seamlessly as a team. The 2020 calendar of Spies Hecker, a global refinish coating brand from Axalta – a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings - illustrates the skills and passion that bodyshops bring to their projects. The selection of images shows the wide range of fascinating projects: from new and vintage cars and commercial vehicles, to electric cars, aircraft and cable car gondolas. These unique images stand out thanks not only to their unusual finishes and perfect finishes, but also to the beautiful composition by the Dutch photographer Jeffrey van der Vaart and his assistant Bastiaan van der Hulst.

eRod kit car

The eRod, a purist street-legal electric buggy developed by KYBURZ Switzerland AG in Freienstein, Switzerland, is as extraordinary as it is uncompromising. It was painted in the golden bronze shade Sahara, the Axalta Color Of The Year 2019. Martin Kyburz, owner of KYBURZ Switzerland AG, says, "With the eRod, we wanted to show you can still build a vehicle from scratch just by following the instructions." For those who are interested, he even offers a do-it-yourself seminar. The lightweight 650-kilo eRod is only rudimentarily equipped, as you would expect from a buggy, because “driving pleasure is the focus", according to Kyburz. The buggy is painted in a nearby Spies Hecker bodyshop.

Scania truck with a Rolling Stones design

Perfect teamwork was the prerequisite for a Scania R480 truck that pays tribute to the legendary rock band, the Rolling Stones. The preliminary work was done by the paint specialists at Christian Kirchner KC Colorworkx in Schmalkalden, Germany. Owner Christian Kirchner commissioned his friend, airbrush artist Jörg Wolke, to paint the design. The result is a piece of art with details everywhere - the red tongue that is the icon symbol of the Stones can be found in the driver's cab and on the wheel nuts, while the faces of the rock legends are particularly impressive. It took about 13 weeks to complete the truck.

High-flyers from Sweden

The Blackwing BW 635 R6 from Eslöv, Sweden, is an ultralight two-seater plane – weighing just under 350kilograms - made entirely of carbon fibre. The lightweight carbon body delivers stability as well as the unmistakable appearance of carbon fibre. In order to preserve the typical carbon fibre weave, paint shop LJ-Blästring AB covered individual parts of the plane with just Permafleet Industry Carbon Fibre Sealer 5605 and Permasolid HS Clear Coat 8055.

Apply for the 2021 calendar

Joachim Hinz, Spies Hecker Brand Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, says, "Without enthusiasm and teamwork these fantastic projects would not have been possible. And in many of them our new Speed-TEC products have been used, which not only ensure good results, but also enable faster and energy-saving application."
